Games of the Day

Houston opens a series in Boston as Gerrit Cole takes on David Price. Cole owns a reverse platoon advantage this season, holding left-handed hitters to a .164/.255/.278 slash line. Price goes for his 15th win, which would be the 6th time in his career he reached that win level.

The Orioles visit the Rays as Tampa Bay starter Blake Snell tries to build on his Cy Young resume. Despite pitching in the AL East, Snell has not feasted on the Orioles. He made just one start against them, and allowed 5 runs in 3 1/3 innings.

The Dodgers go into Colorado in a show-down with the first place Rockies. The teams play six more times this season. Clayton Kershaw takes on Jon Gray. Kershaw owns a 4.65 ERA at Coors field, but is 9-4 with two complete games in 20 starts there. Gray pitched well against the Dodgers at Coors, 2-0 in five starts with a 3.33 ERA.

Also in the race in the NL West is Arizona. They host the Braves who send Kevin Gausman to the mound against Patrick Corbin. Gausman turned his season around since his trade to the Braves. He allowed a 4.43 ERA with the Orioles, a 1.66 ERA with the Braves. Corbin strikes out 11.1 batters per nine IP this season, compared to 8.5 batters per 9 IP for his career.
