Triple Crown Watch

J.D. Martinez went 0 for 5 on Saturday, as he fell behind in the race for the batting title. That lowers his probability of winning the batting title to 0.12. Khris Davis also went 0 for 5, so Martinez’s independent probabilities of at least tying for the HR and RBI titles are 0.33 and 0.988 respectively. His combined simulation probability of at least tying for both titles is 0.41. So the range of probabilities of Martinez winning the triple crown fall between 0.039 and 0.049. It’s more of a long-shot today.
