Mike Clevinger showed a nice improvement early in the season, being near the top of the list in Tom Tango Cy Young points. He won’t make a start for a while, however:
The Cleveland Indians placed Mike Clevinger on the 10-day injured list with a back injury and manager Terry Francona told reporters that the right-hander won’t be able to pick up a ball for six-to-eight weeks.ESPN.com
The Indians said Clevinger has a teres major muscle strain in his right upper back. The move was made retroactive to Monday. Right-hander Nick Wittgren was recalled from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move.
Clevinger was making up for the slow start by Corey Kluber.
Update: Kluber walked one and struck out eight this afternoon in an 8-2 win over Detroit, so I guess his slow start is over.
