Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first inning to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead over the Yankees. That’s eight home runs in ten innings at London Stadium, five by the Red Sox. After a second out, Christian Vazquez homers the opposite way to give Boston a 4-0 lead.
What a weird series.
That was the last homer (well, so far, it’s only the bottom of the seventh as I write!), but certainly not the end of the scoring. The Yanks pounded out 9 runs in the top of the seventh and their consecutive games homering streak is in serious jeopardy!
The streak lives.
