The Tightest Division

The last place Reds beat the first place Cubs 8-6 today, and the the teams are now separated by just 5 1/2 games. The Brewers beat the Pirates 2-1, so Milwaukee moves into a tie for first place. The Cardinals, losers of five in a row, stand three games back, the Pirates five. The Reds came into the day seven games under their Pythagorean projection, so they could easily be in first place. It’s the only division in the majors that is totally up for grabs.
