Cubs Collect Hitters

The Cubs traded for Nick Castellanos and Tony Kemp today in separate deals. The article touts them as improving the Cubs offense, but I don’t know. Castellanos helps the Cubs weakness against left-handed pitching, but they only face a lefty about 20% of the time. Kemp’s superpower is making contact, but his career BABIP is just .270. That tells me his contact is pretty weak. It looks to me that Kemp fills the Ben Zobrist role, having the ability to play anywhere. They are small improvements at best.
