The Anaheim City Council approved the sale of Angel Stadium and the surrounding parking lots to Arte Moreno, the owner of the Angels. This privatizes baseball in Anaheim:
The sale is the first in a series of agreements intended to transform an aging stadium and acres of parking lots into a vibrant entertainment district that would make the area come alive before and after the Angels play, and on days they do not play at all.

Most of the article is about the politics of the deal, what stipulations the city might put on the Angles (what type of housing to build, who to hire), but all that is superfluous. A city is getting out of a business that is a loser for them. They will eventually glean tax money from the business that goes on there, whether Moreno builds or not. With luck, more cities will realize that they should not go down the “own the stadium” path from the start.
