Best Batter Today

Alex Bregman of the Astros stays atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings with a single and two walks in four trips to the play as Houston slams Seattle 11-1. Houston scored nine runs in the first inning, and Dusty Baker gave Bregman a rest after his fourth plate appearance. Anthony Rendon of the Angles moves into the second slot after homering and walking twice in a 7-4 loss to the Dodgers. Rendon owns a .925 OPS, but only a .192 BA. In the same game, Justin Turner of the Dodgers reclaims third place with a two for three night including a walk, and his teammate Mookie Betts drops to fifth with a walk in five trips.

Moving into fourth place is DJ LeMahieu of the Yankees, two for five in the Yankees 10-3 win against Boston. He’s batting .429, and and owns a 0.0063 probability of hitting .400 for the season. Juan Soto is now on the list of possible .400 being tracked. Donovan Solano of the Giants, at 0.0196 (about a 1 in 50 chance) has the highest probability of ending the season at or above .400.
