DJ LeMahieu lands on the ten day illjured list with a sprained thumb.
I can see this being both a positive and a negative in the quest to see a .400 hitter this season. Ten days off will mean that LeMahieu will have fewer plate appearances this season. The less PA, the the higher the probability of hitting .400 due to the small sample size. Thumb injuries, like wrist injuries, then to hurt hitters even after they are healed.
The other negative might come from LeMahieu not being able to meet the 186 minimum PA qualification for the batting title. If he does hit .400, however, he might be far enough ahead of the second place hitter to win the batting title anyway, ala Tony Gwynn in 1996.
