Minnesota holds a 1 1/2 game lead over Cleveland in the AL Central as the Twins visit the Indians. Kenta Maeda tries to keep his undefeated record intact against Aaron Civale. Maeda gives the Twins what passes as length this year, averaging over six innings a start. He can do that as he allows few base runners, allowing him to work efficiently. Civale now owns 91 2/3 major league innings, and in a high home run era allowed just seven long balls.
3-0 pitcher day continues in Texas where the Athletics send Jesus Luzardo against Lance Lynn. Luzardo comes in 2-0 in four starts and two relief appearances. He pitched better as a starter, with a 3.54 ERA in 20 1/3 innings. Lynn carried over his 2019 comeback into this season, now 19-11 with a 3.31 ERA playing for the Rangers, including a 3-0 record this season.
Trevor Bauer of the Reds takes his 3-0 record into Milwaukee to face Brett Anderson. Bauer struck out an impressive 41 batters in 26 1/3 innings so far this season, walking just seven for a 0.68 ERA. Anderson managed to last just 17 1/3 innings in his four starts, turning Bauer’s strikeout total around to 14.
Finally, Brad Keller of the Royals visits St. Louis with a 3-0 record and a 0.00 ERA. He faces Jack Flaherty. Keller has yet to allow a run in 17 2/3 innings this season. He allowed just eight hits, and seems to pitch around batters, allowing eight walks. Flaherty makes just his third start of the season. He pitched well in the first two, but lasted just 8 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out nine.
Enjoy!
