The Rays visit the Marlins and the two starters, Ryan Yarbrough and Sixto Sanchez engage in a seven inning duel. Yarbrough last 6 2/3 innings giving up no runs and four hits while striking out five. Sanchez, in his second MLB start, walks one and strikes out 10 in his seven shutout innings, allowing six hits along the way. Sanchez has now struck out 14 with one walk in 12 innings.
The Rays bullpen kept the goose eggs flowing, while the Rays got to the Miami pen for two runs, one in the eighth and one in the ninth as the Rays with 2-0. Both teams are playing well enough to make the playoffs at this point, which would be a first for the state.
