Better Late than Never

The Yankees and Mets played COVID home and home doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Yankees scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh in game one to tie the Mets at seven, then won it in extra-innings in the eighth on a walk-off single by Gio Urshela. Aaron Hicks hit a two-out, three-run homer to tie the game.

In the nightcap, the game also went into extra innings tied at one. Gary Sanchez, who went 0 for 4 in the first game, hit a pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the eighth to give the Yankees a 5-2 win. My dad used to call this type of scoring by the Yankees ninth inning lightning. Looks like it struck again.
