Best Batter Today

Freddie Freeman of the Braves continues to make his MVP case as he stays atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He posts a three for five night with two doubles and a walk as the Braves rout the Mets 15-2. Freeman’s performance may not have been the best in the game as Ronald Acuna, Jr. doubled homered and walk, and Ozzie Albies hit two home runs. Michael Conforto of the Mets drops to fifth place as he goes one for five in the same game.

Freeman now leads Jose Abreu of the White Sox by eight points. Abreu goes 0 for 3 with a hit by pitch on a poor offensive night for Chicago as Cincinnati stops them 7-1. Manny Machado of the Padres moves into third place as he homers twice and walks against the Mariners in a 6-1 San Diego win. Mookie Betts and the rest of the Dodgers take advantage of Coors Field as Betts homers, triples, and walks in six plate appearances for fourth place. The Dodgers take the game 15-6.

It was an extreme night as there were five shutouts and three teams scoring at least ten runs.
