Manny Machado of the Padres singles twice in the 4-1 loss to Seattle to take second place.

Dropping to third is Freddie Freeman of the Braves. Freeman goes zero for five with four strikeouts as the Mets take the game 7-2. I believe that if the Yankees win today they clinch a playoff spot, as neither Detroit nor Seattle could beat them for a third place slot. The AL playoff field is rapidly taking shape.
