Best Batter Today

Marcell Ozuna of the Braves zooms to the top of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings after barn burner against Boston in which seven of the fifteen runs scored came in extra innings, and Ronald Acuna, Jr. hit the longest home run of the season. Ozuna goes three for four with a double and two walks to claim the top spot. His teammate, Freddy Freeman, does not start the game, so his stats, don’t count. He does come into the game late to hit a walk-off home run for the win and stands in third place. It’s the year of the lead-off two-run homer.

In second place sits Jose Ramirez of the Indians, 0 for 3 with a walk against the Pirates as Cleveland scored another walk-off win. Jose Abreu of the White Sox drops to fourth place after an 0 for 4 as the Cubs win a blow out 10-0.

Juan Soto of the Nationals moves into fifth place despite a night off due to inclement weather. Manny Machado of the Padres posts and 0 for 3 and an 0 for 2, drawing a walk in each game of the double header. That’s enough to drop him to seventh place.
