Back Scratched

Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers woke up with back spasms. He will not make his scheduled start in game two of the NLCS. Rookie Tony Gonsolin starts in Kershaw’s place.

Gonsolin makes his first post-season appearance. Between 2019 and 2020 he made twenty MLB appearances, fourteen of them starts. He allowed just six home runs in 86 2/3 innings, helping him to a 2.60 ERA. He also pitched much better as a starter than in relief.

There will be just a little pressure on him tonight as the Dodgers look to even the series.
