Lowe Goes Lower

Brandon Lowe of the Rays, with a man on first and none out in the bottom of the first, strikes out on a pitch down and inside off the strike zone. The Astros shifted and gave Lowe most of the left side of the infield. The initial pitches from Lance McCuller were on the outer half of the plate, both strikes and balls. He did not try to drive or even bunt those pitches the other way. Just a very poor at bat for Lowe, who is now hitting .130 in the series.

Randy Arozarena bails Lowe out, however, as he drives another ball out of the park, to dead center, and the Rays lead the Astros 2-0. That’s his seventh home run this post-season, and he now has ten RBI.

Update: Maybe Lowe saw this post. He bunts against the shift for a single in the bottom of the third inning.
