May Gets the Call

The Dodgers decided on Dustin May as their game seven starter:

Game 7 of the National League Championship became MLB’s first winner-take-all postseason game matching rookie starters when the Los Angeles Dodgers chose Dustin May to start against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night.

Roberts said he expected Game 2 starter Tony Gonsolin and Game 3 starter Julio Urias to appear in the game at some point. Asked about the availability of three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw, who lost Game 4, Roberts responded, “We’ll see.”

This will be May’s seventh appearance and third start in the post-season, as he relieved twice against Washington in 2019. He owns a 1.80 ERA with seven hits, none home runs, and five walks allowed in ten innings. He pitched 3 2/3 innings against Atlanta in this NLCS, allowing two runs, one earned, while striking out five.
