Playoffs Today

Game four of the World Series takes place Saturday night a 8 PM EDT, 5 PM PDT in Arlington Texas. The Dodgers lead the best of seven series two games to one. Los Angeles, the visiting team tonight, send Julio Urias to the mound against the Rays starter Ryan Yarbrough.

Urias’s post-season roll changed with the Dodgers this year. In past season he served mostly as a one-inning reliever. Two poor outings out of twelve put his ERA at 5.17, with a rather low K per 9 IP rate. This season, he pitched at least three innings in each of his four appearances for an 0.56 ERA. Each of his three-true outcome rates is excellent. He’s taken on a role lost to the modern bullpen game, a long reliever who can actually pitch. He is coming off three perfect innings in the NLCS clinching game against Atlanta.

Yarbrough made a similar transition. In 2019, he pitched a total of three innings in three relief appearances against Houston. In 2020, his first two appearance lasted five innings, one as a start and one in relief. He pitched briefly on Tuesday in game one. Overall he owns a 2.63 ERA in 13 2/3 innings, with all four runs he allowed coming on home runs.
