Baby Yoga

Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton altered their off-season workouts. Here is Eric Cressey, director of player health and performance for the Yankees:

“Both of those guys took a dramatically different approach this offseason from what they’ve previously done,” Cressey said. “I’d say in both cases, they lifted less than they have in the past.”

Judge used yoga. Stanton worked on moving more during the game, especially when in the designated hitter role.

There used to be this idea that players could get muscle bound from too much lifting. Debunking that myth led to the revolution in weight lifting in baseball, which helped feed the PED scandal. Maybe the muscle bound myth came about due to a lack of stretching, a lack of suppleness? These two massive men will be a nice test of that theory.
