Gary Sanchez takes a ball deep to leftfield in his first plate appearance of the 2021 season. The two-run homer gives the Yankees a 2-1 lead over the Blue Jays, and there was no doubt about the ball being gone.
If Sanchez and play decent defense and hit home runs with this team, the Yankees will be fine. Any other offense from the catcher will just be a bonus.
As this game goes extras, I guess I missed the fact that we are still under the stupid extra inning rule. If it is good for extra innings, why not start every inning this way? Manfred makes Kuhn and Selig look good, and that takes some doing…
