The leadoff game of the day features Arizona sending Taylor Widener against the Reds and Jeff Hoffman. Batters are putting the ball in play against Widener, but only have a narrow number of hits to show for it. Hoffman owns a 2.93 ERA in three starts despite 16 hits and six walks in 15 1/3 innings.

On the west coast, Daniel Castano leads the Marlins against the Giants and Aaron Sanchez. Castano makes his ninth MLB appearance and eighth start over two seasons. He owns a 2.86 ERA despite walking 13 batters and striking out just 12 in 34 2/3 innings. Sanchez went just 14 2/3 innings in his first three starts, but posted a 2.45 ERA. He hasn’t been allowed to get in trouble yet.

Finally, the Padres visit the Dodgers with Ryan Weathers facing Walker Buehler. The rookie Weathers makes his second start both against the Dodgers and Buehler. Neither recieved the decision in the first go round.
