Best Batter Today

Juan Soto of the Nationals ranks first in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings as he goes 0 for 2 in the doubleheader at the Mets but walks five times. The Mets sweep the pair 4-1 and 5-4. Joey Votto is part of blowout Thursday as he singles and walks in a 12-3 Reds win over the Braves. It is one of six games decided by seven runs or more. His teammate, Jesse Winker, uses a three for four night with a double and a home run to reach fourth place.

Matt Olson of the Athletics put in a poor performance, going one for six in the 17-0 blanking of the Guarindians. He drops to third place. Manny Machado of the Padres takes the collar as he goes 0 for 4 in a 12-3 Arizona win to drop to fifth place.

The Brewers 17-2 blow out of the Cubs produced two game scores in the 90. Jace Peterson goes five for five with a walk, a double and a home run for a 91, while Luis Urias matches the five hits in six at bats, but with three doubles and two home runs for a 98. Urias sets a new high for the season with that game. It’s Urias’s second 90 of the season, and those two games account for eight of his 39 extra-base hits.
