Best Batter Today

A former top five hitter reenters the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings thanks to games of Tuesday. Juan Soto remains in first place after collecting a single and a walk in a 12-6 Phillies win. In the same game, Bryce Harper of the Phillies posts a three for five night with a double. He sits in third place, now just eight points out of first.

Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals keeps his second place score as the game against the Reds is postponed.

Ty France of the Mariners moves back into the top five as he goes one for two with a walk and a hit by pitch. Seattle takes the game against the Astros 4-0, all the runs scoring in the bottom of the eighth inning on a grand slam by Abraham Toro.

Jose Abreu of the White Sox missed the top five for many months, but returned with a two for four night in a 4-2 win over the Pirates. Abreu hit .330/.382/.661 in August.

The best game score of Tuesday goes to Amed Rosario of the Guarindians. He posts a five for five night, two of the hits home runs. He drives in five runs in the 7-2 victory over the Royals for a game score of 94. The replacement for Francisco Lindor delivers a high batting average, .290, but his singles are most of his offense. Of 135 hits, only 38 have gone for extra bases.
