Best Batter Today

Tuesday brought little change to the top five hitters in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Juan Soto went three for four with a walk to lead the Nationals to an 8-2 win over the Marlins, Soto holding first place by a wide margin. Bryce Harper of the Phillies doubled and walked, but the Cubs took the game 6-3, a blow to Philadelphia’s playoff chances.

The Cardinals game at the Mets saw Paul Goldschmidt of the visitors doubled and walked twice to help St. Louis to a 7-6, eleven inning victory that puts the team into the lead for the second Wild Card slot in the NL. Meanwhile, Javier Baez of the Mets posted the best game score of the day, a 77 as he goes two for two with a double and three walks in the losing cause. Baez moves into the sixth slot in the rankings.

Mookie Betts of the Dodgers goes one for five in an 8-4 win over the Diamondbacks for fourth place. Kyle Tucker of the Astros goes 0 for 2 with a walk as Texas takes the game 8-1.
