Games of the Day

Peralta versus Peralta turned out to be a great match-up on Tuesday, so Wednesday Miami sends Trevor Rogers against the Nationals and Josh Rogers. Tevor put together a very nice season, posting a 2.73 ERA in 118 2/3 innings. His high K total, 138, helped him hold batters to just 93 hits. Josh, in a very short career, misses the plate as much as he misses bats, with fifteen walks and seventeen strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings.

The Yankees send Nestor Cortes against the Orioles ace, John Means. Cortes gave the Yankees 73 1/3 strong innings this season, with 76 K and just 21 walks. Means is a rare bright spot on the Orioles roster, with a 3.42 ERA and just 23 walks allowed in 126 1/3 innings. He does not limit home runs, however, with 25 balls leaving the yard.

The Padres try to end the Giants nine-game win streak as Joe Musgrove takes on Dominic Leone. Musgrove pitched both well and poorly against the Giants this season. He struck out 13 and walked two in 10 innings, but allowed three home runs. That was good for an 8.10 ERA and an 0-2 record. Leone makes his fourth start of the season. As an opener, he allowed one hit and no runs in five innings.
