Robinson Passes

Former first baseman Eddie Robinson died at age 100 on Monday. He was the oldest living player. He went on to be a coach and general manager, and worked with team until 2004:

Robinson was the last surviving player from the 1948 World Series champion Cleveland Indians. That championship was part of the first baseman’s 13 big league seasons, during which he played for seven of the eight American League teams that were active during his career and was a four-time All-Star.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Robinson turned in a number of seasons with outstanding OBPs, but did not generate much power for a first baseman. His best season came in 1952 for the White Sox, posting a .296/.382/.466 slash line with 104 RBI and 176 hits.
