Best Batter Today

Friday’s games brought about just a slight change to the order of the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Juan Soto of the Nationals remains number one after he collects a single and a double in a 7-1 Giants win. Matt Olson of the Braves holds second place as he doubles and drives in two runs in a 3-0 win over the Marlins.

Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers moves into third place as he singles twice and draws a walk in 6-1 win in San Diego. It looks like the Braves made out well here, as they replace Freeman with a player just as good for much less money.

Ty France of the Mariners drops to fourth place as he goes 0 for 4 in a 4-1 win over the Royals. Jose Ramirez of the Guardians drops to fifth as he also takes an 0 for 4 in a 4-1 Yankees win.

The best game score of the night goes to Mookie Betts of the Dodgers. He reaches base four times in five plate appearances, hitting two home runs and walking twice. That gave him a score of 80. He beat out Aaron Judge of the Yankees, also two for three with two home runs, but only one walk. Betts got off to a slow start, as those are his first two home runs. His two for three raised his BA to .208.
