Games of the Day

Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers once again goes for 3000 hits. He’ll have plenty of chances today as the Rockies are in Detroit for a doubleheader after a Friday postponement.

Saturday games kick off with the Guardians at the Yankees with Cal Quantrill taking on Nestor Cortes. Although Quantrill has not pitched much through his first three seasons in the majors, he now owns a career 3.64 ERA as he settles into the Cleveland rotation. He walked just 87 batters in 294 1/3 innings. Cortes might be the king of three-true outcomes this season as he struck out seventeen, walked one, and neither allowed a homer or a run in 9 1/3 innings.

Garrett Whitlock matches wits with J.P. Feyereisen as the Red Sox take on the Rays in Tampa Bay. Whitlock makes his first major league start after posting a 1.84 ERA in 83 career innings. He struck out 92 and walked just 19. Feyereisen, with a very high ratio of ‘E’s to the rest of his letters, make an open for the second time this year. He has yet to allow a walk or a run, with just two hits against him in 5 1/3 innings.

Finally, the Orioles send Spenser Watkins against Noah Syndergaard and the Angels. Watkins had a rough first season in 2021 as he allowed 14 home runs in 54 2/3 innings. He’s yet to give up a long ball in two starts this season. Syndergaard has not regained his strikeout ability, but he’s still managing to limit hits, just seven safeties in 11 1/3 innings.

Enjoy!
