No Pull

The Mets pull Tylor Megill after five innings, despite Megill throwing a no-hitter. He walked three and struck out five, throwing 88 pitches. It’s up to the bullpen to keep the no-no intact.

Megill drops his ERA to 1.93, and the Mets lead the Phillies 2-0 as Philadelphia bats in the top of the sixth inning.

Update: The Mets relievers are doing the job so far, pitching two more hitless innings. They are six outs from a combined no-hitter.

Update: The Mets pitchers issue their sixth walk of the game, but they have not allowed a hit through the first eight innings. They lead the game 3-0.

Update: Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, and J.T. Realmuto are scheduled to bat in the ninth. They will face Edwin Diaz. This might be the first real no-hitter in Mets history, as Johan Santana had his tainted by a bad foul call.

Update: Nice use of “penultimate” by Ron Darling.

Update: Harper comes up with the Mets making changes to improve the defense. He falls behind 1-2, fouling off two pitches. Harper swings and tips a low pitch into the catcher’s glove for the first out.

Update: Castellanos swings and misses twice to fall behind 0-2. He swings and misses at a 1-2 pitch for the second out. That’s 11 Ks for the Mets pitchers.
