Games of the Day

The Guardians travel to Houston as Triston McKenzie takes on Luis Garcia. McKenzie used the lack of home runs to his advantage. He allowed 27 home runs in 153 1/3 innings his first two seasons. This year, he allowed three in 36 1/3 innings, and his ERA is down to 2.97. Garcia does give up home runs, six in 37 2/3 innings. He kept his ERA low by holding opponents to a 4 for 38 with runners in scoring position, a .105 BA.

Zach Logue of the Athletics takes on Marco Gonzales in Seattle. The rookie Logue owns a 2.04 ERA after four appearances, keeping batters off base with a .288 opposition OBP. Gonzales pitched worse than his 3.08 ERA, with nine of the twenty two runs he allowed unearned. He allowed eight home runs, 41 hits, and 16 walks in 38 innings.

The Brewers travel to San Diego as two of the top teams in the NL square off. Adrian Houser takes on Nick Martinez. Houser is repeating his 3.22 ERA of 2021. He allowed 12 home runs in 142 1/3 innings last season, and is doing even better this year with one home run in 36 1/3 innings. Martinez got knocked around in San Diego this year, with all six of his home runs allowed coming at home in 20 2/3 innings.
