The Mariners try to get a win against the Astros with Chris Flexen taking on Framber Valdez. Flexen’s 3.75 ERA is better than his numbers, as FanGraphs has his xFIP at 4.93. Valdez cut his home run rate in half compared to 2021, lower his ERA 0.4 runs.

The Twins send Sonny Gray against the Padres and Joe Musgrove. Gray has been up and down this season, with terrible ERAs in April and July, spectacular ERAs in May and June. Musgrove is on the verge of a five-year, $100 million extension that will keep the home town hero in San Diego.
