Games of the Day

Short and long term greatness meet in The Bronx as the Guardians send rookie Tanner Bibee against the Yankees and Gerrit Cole. Bibee makes his second MLB start after collecting eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings, allowing no walks and just one run. Cole comes into the game 5-0 in six starts with a 1.11 he struck out 44 batters in 40 2/3 innings without allowing a home run. Cole sits atop the Cy Young Tracker in terms of Tom Tango Cy Young points.

First place teams face off in Texas as the Diamondbacks send Zac Gallen against the Rangers and Jon Gray. Gallen comes into the game with a 10 to 1 K to BB ratio, with 51 strikeouts and five walks in 37 2/3 innings. That helped him to a 2.15 ERA. Gray pitched many years for the Rockies, giving him a history against Arizona. He’s 5-7 even with a 5.60 ERA. The two teams always played at altitude, so the games were usually high scoring. His three true outcomes against Arizona are not bad.

The Giants visit Houston with Anthony DeSclafani battling Hunter Brown. DeSclafani is showing great control, with just three walks in 30 innings. Brown now owns 50 2/3 innings in the majors with a 1.78 ERA. He has yet to allow a home run while striking out 54 batters.

Enjoy!
