The Angels get a chance to close their 6 1/2 game gap with the Rangers as Tyler Anderson takes on Dane Dunning. Anderson is 3-1 despite a 5.62 ERA. The lo strikeout pitcher gives up lots of hits, but tends not to go deep enough in games to get decisions. The Angels tend to score lots of runs in his starts, also. Dunning is a swing man, not an opener, successful in both the bullpen and in a starting role this season. He is a low strikeout pitcher who manages to limit hits with a high percentage of ground balls.

The surging Marlins visit Seattle as Jesus Luzardo faces Bryce Miller. Luzardo shows power and control, with 86 K and 20 BB in 73 2/3 innings. The rookie Miller walked just five batters in his first 38 1/3 innings. He allowed a .323 BA with runners in scoring position, however.
