The Cincinnati Reds, 8-2 in their last ten games, visit the Astros with Andrew Abbott taking on J.P. France in a battle of true rookies. Abbott makes his third start, having not allowed a run in 11 2/3 innings. He walked seven batters, but only allowed six hits. France pitched 40 2/3 innings in seven starts. He allowed seven home runs with other wise decent three-true outcomes, leading to a 3.54 ERA.

The Rays send Shane McClanahan against the Padres and Yu Darvish in San Diego. McClanahan is now 32-15 for his career with a 2.76 ERA. He limits both hits and walks a for a 1.08 WHIP. Darvish, now seasonal age 36, is having some control issues this season. He walks 2.9 per nine IP, which is in line with his career, but not his most recent seasons. It’s his highest walk rate since he allowed 4.7 per 9 IP in a short 2018 season.

Finally, Triston McKenzie faces Zac Gallen as the Guardians travel to Arizona. McKenzie makes his third start of the season after recovering from an injury. He struck out 15 batter in his first ten innings. Gallen sports a 3.09 ERA thanks to just four home runs and 19 walks allowed in 84 1/3 innings
