Best Batter Today

Kyle Tucker of the Astros uses the best game score of the day, an 88, to move into third place in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He hit three home runs in four trips to the plate in a 6-4 win over the Athletics. Tucker owns a .400 BA in July with twelve of his 24 hits going for extra bases.

Juan Soto of the Padres posted a game score of 77, fourth best on the day to move into fifth place in the rankings. He went two for three with a walk, both hits home runs. San Diego defeats Detroit 5-4.

Shohei Ohtani of the Angels remains in first place after he drew three walks in an 8-5 win over the Pirates. It would appear teams will no longer pitch to him as he drew seven walks in his last two games! He did poorly on the mound however, but got the win despite allowing five runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Josh Naylor of the Guardians moves into second place. He recorded a two for five in a 6-5 win over the Phillies. Matt Olson of the Braves takes fourth place as he doubled and walked in a 6-4 win over the Brewers. He is now slugging .582.
