The White and Guardians play the noon game, with not a lot of time to cool off from Saturday night’s fisticuffs. Jesse Schotens takes on Xzavion Curry in a battle of rookies. Both starters are low walk, low strikeout pitchers who still manage to limit hits.
The Mets send Jose Quintana against the hot Orioles and Kyle Bradish. Quintana has not allowed a home run in 17 2/3 innings. Unlike Brad Pitt, Kyle is only Bradish. He does own a 3.32 ERA, having improved both his walk and home run rates from his rookie year.
Zac Gallen tries to stop the Diamondbacks five-game losing streak as he faces the Twins and Dallas Keuchel. Gallen participated in the team’s slide, going 2-3 with a 4.67 ERA in his last seven starts. Keuchel makes his 2023 debut. In six starts in the minors for the Twins, he posted a 1.13 ERA in 32 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts.
We will see if Charlie Morton can corrode Justin Steele as the Braves face the Cubs. Morton is allowing more runners on base this season as hit batting average allowed is up 22 points from 2022 and his OBP is up 25 points from last year. That said, his ERA is down about 0.7 runs. Steele dropped his ERA for the second year in a row as he cut his walk rate in half.
Enjoy!
