Seattle Sweeps

The Mariner came into the four game weekend series in Anaheim with a 1/2 game lead over the Angels. After winning 3-2 on Sunday, Seattle is now up 4 1/2 games on their AL West rival as they complete the sweep. All four games were decided by one of two runs, the final two ending in the 3-2 score.

The Angels made moves to improve the team at the trade deadline, and a non-move to keep Shohei Ohtani. This was a challenge series for LAnaheim, and taking two of three from the Mariners would have put the Angels in a better position for a wild card. Now they are 10 1/2 games out in the division and seven out in the wild card as both the Rangers and Blue Jays swept their weekend series. The best laid plans of the Angels went south quickly.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are six games out in the division and two and a half games out of the wild card. Their playoff hopes are very much alive.
