Best Batter Today

Jose Altuve of the Astros returns to the top five in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. He posted a three for four game with a double and a walk to move into fifth place. The Marlins took the game 5-1. Altuve missed significant time with injuries this season, but is posting a great .323/.422/.545 slash line.

Matt Olson of the Braves moves into first place, going two for three with two walks as Atlanta trounces the Yankees 11-3. His teammate, Ronald Acuna Jr.ranks third as he singled and walked twice in the same game.

Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts rested as the Dodgers took the day off. They rank second and fourth respectively.

Paul Goldschmidt of the Cardinals posted the highest game score of the day, a 78. He was perfect at the plate, two for two with three walks and a home run. Goldschmidt dominated the rankings last season, but his power fell off this year as he is slugging just .454.
