Best Batter Today

Labor Day games shuffled the top five in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Mookie Betts remains on top as the Dodgers celebrated an off day. Julio Rodriguez of the Mariner hit his 25th home run of the season, his only hit in five trips to the plate. He remains second, but the Reds take the game 6-3. His teammate, J.P. Crawford posted a one for four to drop to fifth.

Alex Bregman of the Astros move up to third place after a four for four day in a 13-6 drubbing of the Rangers. Bregman walked and doubled for a game score of 77. Ronald Acuna Jr.and the Braves did not play and ranks fourth.

Jose Altuve of the Astros and Edward Olivares of the Royals tied for the highest game score of the day, an 82. Altuve posted a four for six with two home runs. Olivares went three for four with a walk and two home runs. The story with Olivares is that a demotion to AAA helped him. He hit well there, and is four for six with a walk and two home runs since his return.
