Ronald Acuna Jr.of the Braves remains atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings after a two for four with a double and a home run, the dinger putting him in the 40-40 (HR-SB) club. His teammate, Matt Olson, drew two walks for fifth place as the Braves beat the Nationals 9-6. With the Dodgers losing, the Braves magic number for clinching the top playoff seed in the NL is down to four.
Juan Soto of the Padres posted a three for four night with a double as San Diego beat St. Louis 4-2. The Padres won eight in a row and are four games behind the Cubs for the third wild card slot. Soto ranks second. Julio Rodriguez of the Mariners was plunked in five plate appearances as Texas takes over the top spot in the AL West with an 8-5 win. That leaves Rodriguez in the third slot. Yordan Alvarez of the Astros doubled and walked in a 7-5 Royals win, the Astros now 1/2 game behind the Rangers.
Aaron Judge of the Yankees helped keep the NL Wild Card race close as he goes four for four with a double and three home runs in a 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks. That was good for a game score of 99, the highest of the day and second highest of the season. Judge hits three home runs in a game for the second time this season, and his second game score of at least 90. Mookie Betts of the Dodgers is the only other player this season with two game scores of at least 90. Betts and Judge rank sixth and seventh respectively.
