The Diamondbacks defeat the Phillies 5-1 behind great pitching from Merrill Kelly and the bullpen. Kelly allowed one run in five innings, and the bullpen shut the Phillies down the rest of the way. Kelly threw 90 pitches and wanted to go back for the sixth inning, but Torey Lovullo stuck with his game plan. If the bullpen blew up in the sixth, there would be no end of second guessing.

The teams play once again in Philadelphia Tuesday night for the NL Pennant.
