Cleating Pays

It appears steroid use is no longer a detriment to promoting products. Fernando Tatis Jr.seems to be doing just fine:

In conjunction with his branding company Xample, Tatis plans to unveil 50 pairs of custom cleats this season. His choice for Monday night, featuring different designs on each cleat, honored Gwynn, known as Mr. Padre, who played his entire 20-season career in San Diego. Gwynn died in 2014 at age 54.

I suspect part of this comes from a new generation of sports writers who grew up with steroid use and are more complacent about it than the people writing in the 1990s.
