Best Batter Today

Aaron Judge and Juan Soto of the Yankees remain one and two in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Soto posted the better of the two games scores, his three for five with two home runs good for a 76, the third best of the day. Judge went two for three with two walks in the game. Both own .417 OBPs. They are separated by six points in the rankings. Soto’s second home run proved to be the game winner as New York beats San Francisco 7-5. The Yankees go 7-2 on the west coast road trip.

Twenty four points behind Soto sits Jose Ramirez of the Guardians. He went 0 for 4 as the Nationals took the game 5-2. Gunnar Henderson of the Orioles moves into fourth place with the second highest game score of the day, a 79. His perfect day at the plate included two walks, two singles, and a home run, but the Rays take the game 4-3. Kyle Tucker of the Astros drops to fifth place with a single and a walk out of the lead-off slot as the Twins take the game 4-3.

The best game score of the day belonged to Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks. He also finished perfect at the plate, his single, walk, HBP, and two home runs good for a score of 90. That’s the eighth score of at least 90 this season. He now ranks 23rd, his .502 slugging percentage would be his highest for a season since his .532 in 2021.
