Framber Valdez battles Logan Webb as the Astros finish their series with the Giants. Valdez saw his strikeout rate fall off by two per nine innings compared to 2023, but he still does a good job limiting hits. There is a very tight race for most innings pitched in the majors. Webb currently ranks fifth, but one through thirteen are separated by just ten innings. It’s possible we’ll see the most pitchers with 200 innings in a few years. The 2019 season was the last with ten or more pitchers reaching 200 innings, with fifteen reaching that mark.

The Phillies send Cristopher Sanchez to face Nick Pivetta and the Red Sox. Sanchez contributes mightily to the Phillies boasting the best rotation in the majors. He owns a 2.71 ERA, and leads the majors with a HR/9 IP rate of 0.14. Pivetta shows both power and control this season his K rate stands at 10.91 and his walk rate at 1.91 both per nine innings pitched.
