Games of the Day

The Braves and Orioles finish their series in Baltimore with Reynaldo Lopez facing Cole Irvin. Lopez brings a 1.85 ERA into the game, and is just on the edge of qualifying for the leaderboard. He induced eight double plays in 25 opportunities. Irvin’s 2.87 ERA is helped by allowing just 12 walks in 62 2/3 innings.

The Phillies finish at Fenway with Aaron Nola facing Tanner Houck. Nola’s season high in wins stands at 17 in 2018, and he has a good chance to meeting or passing that mark with an 8-2 record not quite halfway through the season. Houck does qualify for the ERA leaderboard, and his 1.91 ERA leads Tarik Skubal of Detroit by 0.01 runs. Houck also leads the AL in home runs per nine innings, having allowed just two on the year.

everybody waxes poetic about Nola because he does the “off-chance shut out” then does zip, like tonight, for months. That’s not worth $172M for any amount of years!
