Marlins rookie Roddery Munoz, making his fifth MLB start, just completed five no-hit innings against the Mets. He came into the game allowing just 17 hits in 19 2/3 innings, but eight of those were home runs, leading to a 5.95 ERA. He also walked eleven batters, but only one so far in this game, striking out five.
He owned a high ERA in the minors, so it’s not like he’s coming around after a few starts. He’s thrown 66 pitches.
Jake Burger just homered in the top of the sixth to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.
Update: with one out in the sixth inning, Harrison Bader breaks up the no-hitter with an opposite field single right.
Update: Munoz pitched six shutout innings, but J.D. Martinez hits a walk-off, two-run homer to give the Mets a 3-2 win.
