Best Batter Today

In terms of individual performances, Tuesday as good to the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Aaron Judge of the Yankees extended his lead by producing the best game score of the day, a 78. He doubled, hit a grand slam, walked, and received a hit by pitch, but the Mets prevailed 9-7. His teammate, Juan Soto, homered and walked twice to move back into second place.

The Yankees reached the halfway point of the season, and the two extra-base hits give Judge 53 on the year. His pace gives him a shot at 106 EXBH for the season, while his expected total based on his Musings Marcels projected rate comes in at 92. He owns a decent chance of reaching 100 EXBH, but his probability of setting a new record remains extremely low.

Gunnar Henderson of the Orioles and Steven Kwan of the Guardians faced off in Baltimore. Henderson moved into third place with a two for three with two walks and a home run, while Kwan dropped to fourth place with a one for five. Kwan’s Guardians prevailed, however, 10-8 in game that saw 30 hits. The Guardians collected fourteen of those, but did not draw a walk. Both team recorded eleven AB with runners in scoring position, Cleveland collecting seven hits to Baltimore’s one.

Bryce Harper of the Phillies rounds out the top five after a two for four in a 4-1 loss to the Tigers. He doubled and homered, accounting for half the Phillies hits and their lone run. He’s slashing .306/.402/.590 on the season with 39 extra-base hits.
