Ian Happ of the Cubs and and Jesus Sanchez of the Marlins both missed the cycle on Thursday. Happ missed in the usual way; he collect four hits, but two of them were home runs. Sanchez missed in the unusual way. He went three for five and failed to pick up the single. Note that Nick Pivetta of the Red Sox took a no-hitter into the seventh against the Marlins, so Sanchez’s three hits came late, as the game went 12 innings.
