Best Batter Today

The teams of the top five of the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings all took Monday off, so there is no change from yesterday. The best game score of the day belonged to Matt Wallner of the Twins, a 66. He went two for four with a double and a home run, driving in two runs in an 8-6, eleven inning, comeback win over the White Sox. Wallner only played fifteen games this season, and the small sample led to an extreme stat line. With 39 PA and 30 AB, he is batting just .167, striking out 18 times. Four of his five hits went for extra bases, however. In addition, he walked four time, was hit by a pitch four times, and delivered a sacrifice fly. That gives him a .333 OBP and a .433 slugging percentage.

I’d also like to mention Rece Hinds of the Reds, two for three with a double and a home run in his major league debut for a game score of 60.
